Gale Galligan is picking up the Baby-Sitters Club graphic novel series where Raina Telgemeier left off — and her first installment is Baby-Sitters Club Graphix #5: Dawn and the Impossible Three. Though it won’t hit shelves until Sept. 26, EW is thrilled to reveal the cover and a sneak peek into the first chapter.

“I was a huge fan of The Baby-Sitters Club as a kid,” Galligan tells EW. “I still remember winning Mary Anne and the Secret in the Attic from a library raffle, devouring it in one sitting, and running back to check out as many as I could carry.” She says that like Telgemeier, she’s pulled plot points from multiple books in the original series: “I’ve enjoyed finding ways to weave all these different threads together into a fresh story while maintaining the graphic novels’ continuity and respecting the canon.” Fans of the Baby-Sitters Club film and TV adaptations will be happy to learn that the visuals from those works have influenced Galligan’s drawings, too. “I’ve had a lot of fun pulling fashion inspiration from all over — including some of those sweet ’90s wardrobes,” she says. “Sometimes, drawing comics can be very good for living vicariously.”
