Lin-Manuel Miranda has gone from Broadway to the Dolby Theatre.

The Hamilton creator took the stage at the 89th annual Academy Awards on Sunday to introduce his Oscar-nominated song “How Far I’ll Go” from Moana, which was then performed by the voice of the Disney heroine herself, 16-year-old Auli’i Cravalho, who sings the track in the film.

The pair was introduced by their Moana costar, Dwayne Johnson. Miranda rapped a prologue celebrating Moana’s independence and fearlessness before Cravalho took the stage in a red dress to sing the tune — continuing like a pro even when one of the dancers waving blue flags to represent the ocean hit her in the head.

Miranda earned his first-ever Oscar nomination for writing “How Far I’ll Go,” and his nomination put him one step closer to achieving the coveted EGOT. (So far, he’s checked off a win for all of the other awards: the Emmys, the Grammys, and the Tonys.)

“How Far I’ll Go” is one of five songs nominated this year, along with “Can’t Stop the Feeling” from Trolls, “The Empty Chair” from Jim: The James Foley Story, and “City of Stars” and “Audition (The Fools Who Dream)” from La La Land.
