The Golden Globes are lovingly regarded as a (slightly) more relaxed precursor to the Academy Awards, but John Legend and wife Chrissy Teigen took things to a new level ahead of Sunday night’s ceremony — ground level, that is.
For the duration of their red carpet interview with E!‘s Ryan Seacrest, the industry power couple actually took a seat on the red carpet outside the Beverly Hilton, posing for photos as their peers strutted by.
“It’s a long night,” Teigen playfully tweeted shortly after the interview.
At one point, Teigen even greeted Ryan Reynolds, nominated for best actor in a comedy or musical for his leading role in Deadpool, with an outstretched hand extended as she lounged on the red carpet stairs.
Legend, who was previously won at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s 2015 event for co-writing the original Selma tune “Glory,” attends this year’s awards as part of the cast of La La Land, Damien Chazelle’s modern musical that notched seven total Golden Globe nods — more than any other 2016 film.
