Even Oscar winners get starstruck sometimes!
Octavia Spencer, who was at the White House for a screening and discussion of her latest movie, Hidden Figures, got the greatest surprise ever when President Barack Obama stopped by to say hello, leading to a hilarious photo of the shocked actress. Spencer reposted the photo on Instagram from the White House’s account.
“Our screening was with [First Lady Michelle Obama] but [Barack] surprised us,” she captioned the photo, which featured her surprised, near-tears face, alongside Obama and costar Taraji P. Henson. “Humbling because he has a million things to do but stopped by to say hello!!!!”
Hidden Figures is a ’60s-set drama about three black female mathematicians working at a segregated NASA, who break the glass ceiling and help get America to space. The film stars Spencer, Henson, Janelle Monáe, and Kevin Costner, who all appeared alongside director Ted Melfi and producer Mimi Valdes at the screening Thursday. Following the movie and a discussion with the cast, Michelle Obama gave a speech about young women and the importance of education.
