Pitch Perfect 3: Skylar Astin says Treblemakes are not in the movie
Skylar Astin and the Treblemakers have dropped the mic.
Astin, who starred in 2012’s popular Pitch Perfect and its 2015 hit sequel, shared on Twitter Thursday that Pitch Perfect 3 will not include the franchise’s main all-boy a cappella group. “Yes. As of now, the Trebles and I won’t be in the third Pitch Perfect movie,” he wrote. “They seem to be taking the story in a different direction.”
Astin’s Jesse, along with fellow Treblemakers Bumper (Adam Devine) and Benji (Ben Platt), continually competed against Barden University’s all-female a cappella group the Bellas, among others, through the films.
Additional details on the plot have not been released, but stars Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, and Anna Camp are confirmed to return. Orange is the New Black actress Ruby Rose also recently joined the threequel, which will be directed by Step Up All In’s Trish Sie, with returning screenwriter Kay Cannon and producer-costar Elizabeth Banks.
Pitch Perfect 3 is set to hit theaters Dec. 22, 2017.
Universal Pictures did not immediately respond to EW’s request for comment.
