Disney's live-action Cruella movie starring Emma Stone eyes director
Broadway veteran Alex Timbers is in talks for the job
Dalmations, beware: Cruella may have found its director.
EW has confirmed that Alex Timbers, the Broadway veteran and co-creator of the Amazon series Mozart in the Jungle, is in negotiations to helm Disney’s live-action movie centered on the villainess of 101 Dalmatians.
Emma Stone is attached to star as Cruella de Vil in the film, which will explore the origins of the stylish but sadistic socialite who longs for a coat made from spotted puppy pelts. Kelly Marcel (Saving Mr. Banks, Fifty Shades of Grey) and Steve Zissis (Togetherness) are writing the script.
Timbers, a two-time Tony nominee, has yet to direct a feature film. His stage directing credits include Peter and the Starcatcher, Rocky, and Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson.
The Hollywood Reporter first reported the negotiations.
