Alan Thicke — the beloved television dad from Growing Painsdied suddenly Tuesday at 69 years old, his publicist confirmed to EW.

The Seaver family patriarch from the ’80s sitcom was also an occasional talk-show host and game-show host and touched countless lives throughout his career. His impact is captured in celebrity reactions to his death, including touching posts from his sons Robin and Carter Thicke.

Recently, Thicke appeared in season 2 of Netflix’s Fuller House. Members of the cast remembered their late costar. “So sad is the passing of Alan Thicke. Such a good husband, father, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed. Rest in peace dear Alan,” Bob Saget wrote on Twitter.

Candace Cameron Bure penned an Instagram tribute to Thicke. “I’m sad beyond words that Alan Thicke has passed away. I’ve known you since I was 8 years old and so glad I had the pleasure of working with you again so recently on Fuller House,” she wrote. “You were a part of my family and hockey family. You will be greatly missed. My heart hurts.”

Ben Stiller reflected on his history with the actor, tweeting, “Just heard of #AlanThicke’s passing. 1st job in LA was as an intern for him… He was a very nice boss. Sending good thoughts to his family.”

Meanwhile, John Legend explained that he met one of his childhood role models. Legend tweeted, “I grew up watching him and got to know him through Robin. He was always so kind to me. So sad to hear about his passing.”

Thicke’s ex-wife Gloria Loring wrote an emotional Facebook post and noted she had recently seen the actor. “Dear Friends, Thank you for your kindness concerning Alan Thicke’s passing. It is a shock. We were all just together for Thanksgiving,” she wrote. “He was talented, funny and deeply devoted to his family. Rest In Peace, dear one.”

“We are deeply saddened to hear of Alan’s passing. He was a part of our Pop family and was a tremendous talent,” Pop TV President Brad Schwartz wrote in a statement. “He was also for all who knew him, an amazing father and a true gentleman. We had the privilege to work with America’s Favorite Dad and his loss is one that is deeply felt.”
