Donald Trump was named TIME magazine’s Person of the Year last week, and it left 2015’s recipient of the title feeling a bit displeased — at least in the world of Saturday Night Live.

During Saturday’s Weekend Update, star Kate McKinnon dusted off her Angela Merkel impression to talk Trump. The Chancellor of Germany was named last year’s Person of the Year and noted Trump’s selection undermined that honor. “It’s like winning the Nobel Prize for physics and then the next year they give it to Hoobastank,” McKinnon’s Merkel joked.

Asked about the world at large, specifically the rise of nationalism in Europe, she added, “Nationalism in Europe? What could go wrong? Sorry, that was the first German attempt at sarcasm. I’ll work on it.”

And on the self-described “alt-right” movement, McKinnon’s Merkel said, “Ah, yes, in America you call it the ‘alt-right.’ In Germany, we call it, ‘Why grandpapa lives in Argentina now.'”

The segment ended with Merkel paying one final tribute to Barack Obama, even singing a few bars of Sarah McLachlan’s “I Will Remember You.”
