TV shows are no stranger to death. And if you’ve watched Game of Thrones or The Walking Dead, you’ve seen more than your fair share of onscreen killings. But while both shows are known for dispatching characters, one series has a higher kill count: According to Nantes Rykaart (a.k.a. Reddit user nachorykaart) that honor goes to The Walking Dead

In order to figure this out, Rykaart studied the first five seasons of both shows and separated each onscreen death into four main categories — main character, side character, background character, and nonhuman character — that he presented in an easy-to-follow infographic.

After a little number crunching, the AMC zombie drama came out ahead with 1,216 deaths, compared to the HBO fantasy’s 704. However, it’s interesting to note that while The Walking Dead has featured more kills, Game of Thrones has actually taken out more characters audiences care about (Rest in peace, Hodor!).

See Rykaart’s full infographic below.
