Trailers From Hell takes on The Incredible Melting Man
Despite its name, the “gurus” over at Joe Dante’s Trailers From Hell website often ruminate on the promo clips of genuinely great films like Network, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Halloween, or Deliverance. At the very least, they will usually try to find something positive to say about subpar cinematic product. But, as my mother always says, you can’t polish poop.*
All of which brings us to this week’s TFH evaluation of the 1977 science-fiction film The Incredible Melting Man by Mike Mendez, the director of Big Ass Spider!, Lavalantula, and the forthcoming Dolph Lundgren vehicle Don’t Kill It. Mendez is no film snob, but even he has a tough time coming up with a nice word to say about this notoriously awful poject — unless “terrible” counts as such.
You can hear Mendez’s take on The Incredible Melting Man above.
