He would antagonize Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett in the female-led heist movie
It looks like Damian Lewis is going to get fleeced.
The Billions and Homeland actor is in final negotiations to play the bad guy in Ocean’s 8, the female-led heist movie starring Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, and Rihanna, a representative for the actor confirmed to EW.
According to Variety, which first reported the news, Lewis will portray the ex-lover of Bullock’s ringleader character and the target of her crew’s scheming.
Spun off from Steven Soderbergh’s Ocean’s trilogy, which starred George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and Matt Damon, Ocean’s 8 boasts a similarly starry lineup: Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling, Awkwafina, and Sarah Paulson are all on board.
Gary Ross, a longtime friend and collaborator of Soderbergh’s, is directing Ocean’s 8, from a script he wrote with Olivia Milch. Soderbergh is on board as a producer. Filming is currently underway.
A representative for Warner Bros. declined to comment. Ocean’s 8 is scheduled to hit theaters June 8, 2018.
