A Series of Unfortunate Events: Netflix releases second trailer
'If you're interested in stories with happy endings, that story is streaming elsewhere,' warns Patrick Warburton's Lemony Snicket
The childhoods of the Baudelaires look anything but fun in the new trailer for Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events.
Based on Snicket’s absurdist book series, this new Netflix show follows the often miserable lives of Violet (Malina Weissman), Klaus (Louis Hynes), and baby Sunny Baudelaire as they’re passed along from one distant relative to another after their parents die. Unfortunately, the dastardly Count Olaf (Neil Patrick Harris), who is after their fortune, manages to find them each time they relocate.
“If you’re interested in stories with happy endings, that story is streaming elsewhere,” warns Lemony Snicket (Patrick Warburton) at the beginning of the video.
While the Baudelaires might be having “terrible childhoods,” fans of the book series will probably be delighted by this new trailer because it shows off Violet’s inventiveness — one of her defining traits throughout the series. The short clip also features more glimpses at the show’s take on the fourth book, The Miserable Mill.

A Series of Unfortunate Events also stars Joan Cusack, Asif Mandvi, and Alfre Woodard. The entire first season will be available Jan. 13 on Netflix.
