Continuing an annual tradition, film critic David Ehrlich has released his top-25 movies countdown for 2016 — an eclectic mix of choices seamlessly edited together by Ehrlich himself, who’s now a critic at Indiewire.

This year’s edition opens with a sample of Jimmy Carter’s “crisis of confidence” speech (featured prominently in 20th Century Women), and includes music cues from La La Land, Toni Erdmann, and Keanu, among other movies to underscore Ehrlich’s picks. The countdown includes critical darlings like top selection Moonlight, but also goes a little non-traditional with the inclusion of Beyoncé’s Lemonade film and Ezra Edelman’s five-part documentary O.J.: Made In America.
