The Magicians Season 2 poster summons The White Lady
The Magicians‘ land of Fillory is filled with all manner of fantastical creatures, and fans have already glimpsed a new one coming in season 2: Armed with a bow and arrow, Quentin (Jason Ralph) and Penny (Arjun Gupta) encounter a white half-human, half-doe in the woods. This is The White Lady, and she’s been summoned in a new poster and featurette, premiering exclusively here, that delve into the magic of makeup and prosthetics.
The season 2 key art sees The White Lady engulfed in a swarm of golden moths — the familiar markers of The Beast. As we learned in clips from the new episodes, Fillorian creatures aren’t as whimsical as they might appear, and the new featurette confirms this one has a nifty trick Quentin hopes to tap.
Emma Dumont (NBC’s Aquarius) portrays the creature, which she says is “not human, not quite animal, and there’s a tale that if you catch The White Lady, she will grant you a wish.”
Watch special effects makeup coordinator Jason Ward explain Dumont’s eight-hour, head-to-toe transformation process in the featurette below.
The Magicians season 2 will pick up with the kids from Brakebills after their intense encounter with The Beast in the season 1 finale. With Eliot (Hale Appleman) now a high king of Fillory, Margo (Summer Bishil), Quentin, and Alice (Olivia Taylor Dudley) fill out the other royal positions, as they’re “thrust into an even more perilous, dark, and twisted journey to save the existence of magic” — and battle The Beast, who vanished to make a deal with Julia (Stella Maeve).
The new episodes debut on Syfy Jan. 25 at 9 p.m. ET. See the season 2 poster below.
