Country singer Granger Smith is recovering in a New Jersey hospital after an on-stage accident Friday night left him with two separated and broken ribs, as well as a punctured and partially collapsed lung.
During the 37-year-old’s performance at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, N.J., the “If the Boot Fits” singer stood on top of a monitor, which knocked over, causing Smith to fall onto a metal barricade. Despite the intense injury, he got back up on stage and finished the concert, heading to the hospital later.
Smith confirmed the news with his fans on Twitter Saturday, giving a hopeful update of his condition. “I took a pretty hard spill last night in Jersey. Thx for the well wishes!” he wrote. “Y’all mean the world to me.” He went on to assure fans his injuries, while severe, were treatable. “I’ll be out of the hospital and 100% soon!”
Smith has canceled his remaining weekend shows and appearances. See his message and fan-captured footage of the accident below.
