Big Little Lies trailer starring Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman released

HBO shared the full trailer for its new limited series Big Little Lies on Thursday, along with a warning: Be wary of the nice moms.

The teaser for the Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman-starring dark comedy sees both of the actresses’ characters welcoming a new mom to the community with the most open of arms. “This is Monterey. We pound people with nice,” Madeline (Witherspoon) tells Jane (Shailene Woodley). Adds Celeste (Kidman): “To death.”

Immediately cut to a slew of talking heads, firing off cautionary tales of the most ambitious parents. “Ticking bomb: I’ll leave it at that,” one added, coupled with a shot of Madeline flying off the handle. Cue a montage of a gala, screaming, a car crash, sirens, and a loaded revolver. “Things never blow over,” a voiceover adds in a new testimonial. “They blow up.”

See the trailer above. Big Little Lies‘ seven episodes are directed by Jean-Marc Vallée (Wild) and written by David E. Kelley (Ally McBeal) and also stars Alexander Skarsgard, Laura Dern, Adam Scott, and Zoe Kravitz. It premieres Feb. 19 on HBO.
