Filmmakers Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead gained fans in the horror community with their debut collaboration, 2012’s reality-bending addiction tale Resolution, and then many more with 2014’s Spring, a Lovecraftian love story which Guillermo del Toro hailed as “one of the best horror films of this decade.” Last August, it was announced that the pair were reteaming to both star in and co-direct a third feature, named The Endless, but little other information has been released about the project — until now.

Entertainment Weekly can exclusively reveal that the film follows two brothers who return to the death cult from which they fled a decade ago, to find that there might be some truth to the group’s otherworldly beliefs. We’ve also gotten our hands on the first-ever stills from the film, which you can see below.

The Endless costars Tate Ellington, Emily Montague, Lew Temple, Vinny Curran, Peter Cilella, Shane Brady, Kira Powell, and Callie Hernandez. The film is produced by David Lawson with Thomas R. Burke and Leal Naim from Love & Death Productions, and Robert E. Pfaff and Frederick A Pfaff of Pfaff & Pfaff Productions. XYZ Films will be arranging distribution.

Spring composer Jimmy LaValle, from the solo musical project The Album Leaf, is scoring The Endless. Below, you can also see the Benson- and Moorhead-directed video for the track “Never Far,” from the recent Album Leaf release, Between Waves.
