A 30-year nap sounds pretty relaxing, but in the new Passengers trailer, Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt realize that sleeping for that long has quite a few drawbacks.

The latest look at director Morten Tyldum’s (The Imitation Game) sci-fi adventure ratchets up the action and delves more into the mystery of why Aurora (Lawrence) and Jim (Pratt) woke up only a fourth of the way into their 120-year voyage through space.

“This can’t be happening,” Aurora says. “We have to go back to sleep.” Their creepy robot bartender (Michael Sheen) retorts, “Who wants to sleep on a beautiful day like this?”

As they float through space and fall in love, it soon becomes evident that there’s more going on than meets the eye. “There’s a reason we woke up early,” Jim says mysteriously.

Pratt shared his lofty expectations for the film earlier this year: “I just thought if this movie gets made with the two of us, with this story and with this director and we can execute this well, I really think it’s going to be one of the greatest, most original and compelling epic movies I’ve seen… maybe ever,” he said.

Passengers, which also stars Laurence Fishbourne and Andy Garcia, flies into theaters on Dec. 21
