Elton John will not play at Donald Trump's inauguration despite report
Elton John will not play at Donald Trump’s Jan. 20 inauguration in Washington, D.C., EW has learned, despite a previous report from a Trump aide.
“Elton will not be performing at Trump’s inauguration,” a rep for the artist said.
The rumor was set in motion on Tuesday when Anthony Scaramucci, vice chair of the presidential inaugural committee, told the BBC that the legendary Grammy-winner would be performing a concert, and that his participation represented Trump’s dedication to LGBT rights.
“This will be the first American president in U.S. history that enters the White House with a pro-gay rights stance,” Scaramucci told the BBC.
John was a vocal supporter of Hillary Clinton during the 2016 campaign, and performed a medley of his greatest hits at a March fundraiser for the Democrat.
