Each week, following her live Q&A with the houseguests and with the evicted guest, Big Brother host Julie Chen answers a few questions just for EW about the latest events in the house. Here, she talks about week 7, including Justin’s smart game moves.

Danielle said she wanted Jason to stay over herself in the house — Scott had said the same thing about Alex. What do you make of all the self-sacrifice this season?

I think these players are true gamers who love the game more than anything, and that’s why they easily stepped aside for an alliance member who they thought had a better chance of taking it to the end.

Danielle thought Justin was a traitor for flipping to work with Alex and Morgan when he had hated them so much before. Because of how badly this house was divided, do you think it’s possible he’s just now getting to know them — or maybe he’s finally making some game moves?

I think he probably is a pretty easygoing guy who doesn’t hang on to bad feelings toward anyone, and once he saw he could advance his game by giving the other side a chance, he did it! That’s smart on his part. If you come to Big Brother, you should come to not only try and win, but to open your mind and give everyone a chance.

It FINALLY seems like everyone in the house is getting along; they’ve put aside personal feelings and are truly playing the game as individuals. Are you surprised it took this long?

Nothing can really surprise me anymore in Big Brother. Every season is unique and different and complex. Expect the unexpected.
