Spoiler alert: A major Westworld star has revealed he’ll continue on the show in season 2 (so stop reading now if you don’t want to know).

With HBO’s sci-fi drama headed into the first of its final three episodes tonight, actor Ed Harris — who plays the mysterious Man in Black — told an interviewer that he “will be involved” in the next season.

Speaking to BBC Radio 4, Harris recalled how he was chatting with Westworld showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy. “I was just talking to Jonah Nolan last night, who’s a creator of this thing with his wife Lisa Joy, and yeah, they’re doing another season,” he said. “They’re going to do 10 more episodes, and I will be involved.”

Fans have assumed that the MiB was going to get killed off in the final episodes given that his character has made so many cryptic references to dying on the show (plus, Harris is a rather big star who gets plenty of other opportunities out there). Of course, just because Harris will be “involved” in season 2 doesn’t mean that his character won’t also die — Westworld‘s unique world-building allows characters to potentially live on as a robotic host.

The second season of Westworld is expected to premiere in 2018. Here’s a preview of Sunday’s eighth episode:

HBO’s ambitious science-fiction thriller Westworld is based on the 1973 Michael Crichton novel of the same name. The series developed by Jonathan Nolan stars Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden, Thandie Newton, and more top names.
