Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard leaves Hawkins, Indiana behind for the on-the-road life of a rockstar in PUP’s new music video for “Sleep in the Heat,” released Wednesday.

We’ll get this warning out of the way: This video packs an emotional punch, so have your Kleenex handy. Wolfhard stars in the clip as a younger version of PUP frontman Stefan Babcock, a role he also played in the video for “Guilt Trip” two years ago. As his band takes off and he road-trips from gig to gig (we’ll let it slide that Wolfhard is definitely not old enough to have a license), the band befriends a dog, who quickly becomes part of their crew. Over the course of the video, the dog becomes sick, and Wolfhard must figure out a way to save him, because, you know, veterinarian visits are expensive.

Babcock wrote the song after the death of his pet chameleon, according to Vulture, and it appears on PUP’s second album, The Dream is Over.

Wolfhard has expressed interest in the music world before, and told Vulture that it’s really him playing guitar in the music video. He recently posted several clips on Twitter showing off his musical chops, first to Nirvana’s “Lithium” and then to “Salad Days” by Mac DeMarco.
