Showtime’s legal-financial nail-biter Billions continues to bolster its season 2 cast with another name.

EW has learned exclusively that actor-writer Danny Strong has joined the cast in a recurring role as Todd Krakow, described as “a stylish and smooth hedge fund whale” who becomes the latest conflicting head to butt up against billionaire bad boy Bobby Axelrod (Damian Lewis).

As an actor, Strong is known for his work on Gilmore Girls (which he’ll be reprising in Netflix’s revival), Mad Men, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. As a writer, however, he’s the two-time Emmy winner behind projects like Game Change, Empire (he’s co-creator), The Hunger Games – Mockingjay, and Lee Daniels’ The Butler. He also wrapped his feature directing debut Rebel in the Rye this year.

Billions picks up its second season in the immediate aftermath of the face-off between Chuck (Paul Giamatti) and Axe in the season 1 finale. Guest stars in season 2 include James Wolk, Mary-Louise Parker, Eric Bogosian, Rob Morrow, Kelly AuCoin, Dan Soder, Christopher Denham, Glenn Fleshler, and Eric Bogosian.

Billions returns on Showtime Sunday, Feb. 19 at 10 p.m. ET.
