That's So Raven sequel: Anneliese van der Pol to return as Chelsea
- TV Show
Raven Baxter won’t be the only one returning in the That’s So Raven sequel currently in the works at the Disney Channel. It looks like she’ll be bringing her best friend Chelsea Daniels with her!
Monday morning, Disney announced that Anneliese van der Pol will be reprising her role in the spin-off as both Raven and Chelsea join forces post-divorce to raise their kids together. In fact, the first episode of the new series sees Chelsea and her son, Levi, move in with Raven and her kids, Nia and Booker.
“The pairing of Raven-Symone and Anneliese is comedy gold,” Disney said in a statement. “They each are skillful performers and there’s a fantastic comedic chemistry between them. The two women are dear friends in real life too and are both thrilled to soon be working together again.”
Much like the original show, the Raven sequel will focus on Raven’s kids — and one of them has inherited her ability to glimpse the future. However, based on Levi’s character break down, which says he’s “not above tricking his loved ones to get what he wants” but also “fiercely protective” of anyone else who tries to do so, it seems like he might not be as good a friend as his mother was to Raven.
Since appearing in all 100 episodes of That’s So Raven, van der Pol has made her Broadway debut as Belle in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and played the role of Kathy in Off-Broadway’s Vanities.
The That’s So Raven spin-off begins production in 2017.
