Moby condemns Trump's win: 'America made a mistake'
Moby took to Instagram on Wednesday to voice his frustration about the results of last night’s presidential election. “America, via the antiquated electoral college, might have chosen the ignorant bigot over the erudite progressive, but I’m still so proud of all of the work that so many of us did to try to get Hillary Clinton elected,” the musician wrote in the caption accompanying a picture of himself and the Democratic nominee. “America made a mistake yesterday, we didn’t.”
He also made multiple posts — including one of President-Elect Donald Trump’s infamous 2012 tweet decrying the Electoral College — questioning why America still has a system that allows a candidate who wins the popular vote, as Clinton appears likely to do, to lose the presidency.
Additionally, Moby published an open letter via Billboard expanding on his thoughts. “Here are the facts,” he concludes. “Junk food makes you fat and kills you. Cigarettes give you cancer. And Donald Trump is a racist and a misogynist who has ruined countless business and will be the worst president our country has ever, ever seen.”
In a late October interview with EW, Moby had remained optimistic about Clinton’s prospects of winning the election. “I’ve known Hillary for a long time and I think she’s amazing,” he said. “She’s made mistakes and she’s got her idiosyncrasies, but she’s smart and progressive and incredibly capable and hardworking.”
