Stephen Colbert screaming booth lets voters relieve election stress
As one of the most remarkable and contentious elections in recent memory finally nears its end, voters everywhere are waiting with bated breath to see who will be the next president of the United States. And for those stressed-out citizens who can’t take the anxiety a moment longer, Stephen Colbert is offering a place to vent.
A few hours ahead of his Showtime election special, the late-night host is streaming a “screaming booth” on Facebook Live, where members of his audience and the general public can follow returns and shout out their worries. Parked outside the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City, the enclosure consists of a phone booth repurposed with a TV tuned to election coverage.
As for the special itself, titled Stephen Colbert’s Live Election Night Democracy’s Series Finale: Who’s Going To Clean Up This S‑‑‑?, the guest list includes Katy Perry, Larry Wilmore, Patton Oswalt, Jeff Goldblum, Nick Offerman, Jena Friedman, Laura Benanti, and Charlamagne Tha God. Colbert will also be joined by political experts Mark Halperin and John Heilemann and campaign strategist Mark McKinnon.
The one-hour program, which begins at 11 p.m. ET, will air live on Showtime, and Colbert’s uncensored monologue will also be streamed via Facebook Live.
