Plus: Lifetime makes a JonBenét Ramsey movie
Your daily guide to the most interesting stuff happening on TV and streaming. All times Eastern.
PICK OF THE NIGHT
Netflix, Friday, streaming
I’m just gonna throw some words out at you: Netflix. Peter Morgan. Claire Foy. Elizabeth II. Matt Smith. British royals. Expensive. Corgis. Listen, you know you’re going to end up bingeing on this luxuriously produced prestige historical drama that follows Elizabeth II from coronation to present day. The only question is: How fast will you do it?
The CW, Friday, 9 p.m.
Rebecca is torn between two men. Who will it be, Josh or Greg? And will the candidate who loses accept the result, or will he claim the system was rigged all along?
FISHIN’ FOR CASH
ABC, Friday, 9 p.m.
An entrepreneur team from the Bay Area pitches the judges with a new technology that tests the mercury levels in fish. “Dude, it’s totally medicinal, I swear!” replied the guilty fish.
TRUE CRIME ALERT
Who Killed JonBenét?
Lifetime, Saturday, 8 p.m.
I’m hesitant to compare this movie about the JonBenét Ramsey saga to American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson, because it isn’t even close in quality or importance to that superb miniseries. But it shares the same objective: to offer a detailed portrait of an infamous crime and all the drama around the case.
Epix, Sunday, 9 p.m.
Four episodes in, it’s become clear that this Berlin-set spy thriller is a character actor’s dream. Specifically for ones named Richard: Jenkins (Six Feet Under), Armitage (The Hobbit), and Dillane (Argo) are all great as prickly, rivalrous CIA agents who, alongside solid supporters like Rhys Ifans and Michelle Forbes, combat an Edward Snowden-esque whistle-blower trying to disrupt German-American relations. #Topical!
