Sterling K. Brown, Justin Hartley, and Chrissy Metz make up The Big Three on NBC’s hit This Is Us, but don’t ask them if they can do the family chant.

During EW PopFest last weekend EW Radio’s Jessica Shaw and Samantha Highfill did just that… and it was a total failure. In the adult actors’ defense, however, it’s the 8-year-old versions of their characters who perform the cheer with their parents, played by Milo Ventimiglia and Mandy Moore.

“No wait, I don’t know it,” Brown laughed almost immediately after starting his attempt. “My mind is filled with lots of things that are unimportant.”

Friendly sibling rivalry is alive and well amongst the Big Three. “Justin beats me in almost everything,” Brown said. “He’ll do more pushups; he can beat me in arm wrestling. I just try to get that mental, which is not really mental.”

All kidding aside, all three actors have felt the enormous outpouring from fans of the show. “I’ve had people reach out to me like, ‘Oh my god I’ve been watching the Steelers or football games with my father who’s passed away, who’s in an urn,'” said Metz before adding, “art really does imitate life.”
