Japandroids shared a teaser trailer Monday for their third album, Near to the Wild Heart of Life. The Vancouver rock duo provided no information beyond the clip’s YouTube title: “Japandroids ‘Near to the Wild Heart of Life’ Coming 2017.”

Near to the Wild Heart of Life follows 2009’s Post-Nothing and 2012’s Celebration Rock. The latter collection appeared on EW’s best albums of 2012, with critic Melissa Maerz calling it “dive-bar punk that makes you pound your fist just as hard as your pound your beer.”

Japandroids had stayed quiet since 2013 — when they finished their Celebration Rock tour and said it was time “to disappear into the ether for a while” — but made their live return this month, playing shows in Vancouver, Los Angeles, Toronto, London, and New York and performing multiple new songs.
