James Corden, the Late Late Show host whose Carpool Karaoke segments have racked up hundreds of millions of views on YouTube, says he owes the bulk of his success to a play.

More specifically, One Man, Two Guvnors, the Nicholas Hytner-directed Broadway play that netted Corden his best actor Tony and cast a spotlight on his comedic talents.

“I owe almost everything to it, is the truth,” Corden told Entertainment Weekly and People editorial director Jess Cagle during EW PopFest on Sunday, recalling the production as “a joy.”

“There were genuinely moments doing that play … where I would think, ‘If I could stay here in this moment forever, I would,” he said. “When that play flew, when everybody was on the same page — audience, cast, everyone — I don’t think I’ll ever have an experience like that again.”
