Idris Elba, the 44-year-old star from films like The Dark Tower and Thor: Ragnarok, made his professional kickboxing debut this weekend in a match that was recorded by — wait for it — Madonna.

Elba entered the ring at London’s York Hall as part of his work on the Discovery series Idris Elba: Fighter. Debuting early next year, the three-part series sees the actor endure the intense training regime to become a professional kickboxer, culminating in a match against a seasoned fighter.

“Idris Elba smashes it at York Hall,” Madonna wrote next to video of his bout. Watch it below.

Elba has been documenting his training process on social media — sweaty, shirtless shots and all. “The legend Nigel ‘The Dark Destroyer’ Benn put me though my paces today on pads,” he captioned one such photo. “Masterclass.”

In a statement accompanying the announcement of the Discovery series, Elba said, “It has been a lifelong ambition of mine to fight professionally. Entering the ring to further test myself as a human being is a challenge I have been looking to take on for quite some time.”
