World Series: Bill Murray channels Daffy Duck for 7th inning stretch
Diehard Chicago Cubs fan Bill Murray continued his crusade to cheer the team to its first championship since 1908 by singing a rousing, Daffy Duck-inspired rendition of “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” during Game 3 of the World Series on Friday evening.
Stepping into the booth at Wrigley Field dressed in full Cubs regalia, the Ghostbusters and Lost in Translation star led the seventh inning stretch with his usual unpredictable charm. Invoking the cartoon waterfowl as “our greatest American entertainer,” Murray whipped the crowd into a frenzy with his Daffy impression while the Cubbies prepared to battle back from a 1-0 deficit against the Cleveland Indians.
Murray has been vocal and visible with his Cubs support of late. In addition to being a fixture at Wrigley, the 66-year-old star recently crashed a White House press briefing to talk up Chicago’s prowess, saluted the team while accepting the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, and shared a childhood photo of him decked out in Cubs gear.
