Fantastic Beasts: Take an exclusive peek inside the Blind Pig

What would the Star Wars cantina scene look like in the Harry Potter universe? In Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, our heroes — creature-loving New York City tourist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) and government worker Tina Goldstein (Katherine Waterston) — are on the hunt for information about the mysterious young Credence Barebone (Ezra Miller) when they venture into a sketchy magical speakeasy of scum and villainy called the Blind Pig that’s not entirely unlike a wizarding-world version of the famous Tatooine outpost.

Once you enter through an alleyway (a poster with real eyes serves as the door), you descend underground to a bar that would have never been allowed in Hogsmeade. There’s self-pouring drinks, a band playing instruments unlike any you’ve seen before, animated “Wanted” posters of the club’s clientele proudly displayed on the walls, and a formidable goblin owner (Ron Perlman). “It’s a disreputable place with nicotine-stained tiles of an appalling character and a bit of lowlife that’s actually quite fun,” says the film’s production designer (and Potter series veteran) Stuart Craig. Basically, it’s the type of place that really doesn’t care about its Yelp reviews.
