James Franco endorses Hillary Clinton with Dos Equis spoof
Franco's video plays on the brand's Most Interesting Man in the World ad campaign
James Franco doesn’t always endorse presidential candidates, but when he does, it’s Hillary Clinton.
The actor joined the ranks of celebs with political viral videos when he posted an Instagram video Wednesday announcing his endorsement of the Democratic presidential candidate in a hilarious spoof of Dos Equis’ Most Interesting Man in the World ad campaign.
“The smartest guy in the room is always her,” Franco narrates over a montage of Clinton being her confident self, even downing a shot of liquor at one point. “After she opens a can of whoop-ass, she always recycles the can.”
He also jokes that her Secret Service code name is Hermione because “she’s a f—ing wizard.”
“Vote wisely my friends,” Franco advises as he puts his arm around a cardboard Clinton cutout and sips from a mug of coffee.
The phrase riffs on Dos Equis’ famous slogan, “Stay thirsty my friends,” which closes out their beer commercials. The clips typically feature the Most Interesting Man in the World completing daring feats across the globe. On Oct. 25, Dos Equis announced a new Man, French actor Augustin Legrand, set to replace Jonathan Goldsmith, who had held the title since the ads’ debut in 2006. But don’t fret — the legendary mustache, like the one France sports in his video, remains intact.
