Looks like Juliette Barnes’ plane makes a safe landing after all.

In a new promo for the upcoming season 5 of Nashville, Hayden Panettiere, Connie Britton, and Charles Esten are back and already causing drama.

Juliette’s fate was left up in the air in last season’s finale when the plane she was flying in lost radio contact, but Panettiere — who briefly left the show in season 4 to seek treatment for postpartum depression — and her country starlet are back. (It was widely expected Panettiere would return for season 5, but her involvement was never officially confirmed.)

“We tape ourselves together so that no one can see our flawed hearts,” she says into the camera as teasers of tears, fights, and, of course, steamy hook-ups flash behind her.

Things don’t look particularly bright for Deacon Claybourne this season, either. “I’ve left a trail of destruction, hurt people I’ve loved, let down the people who love me,” he says, as we see him punch a mirror and contemplate a bottle of wine.

Connie Britton, who plays his wife Rayna, Chris Carmack (country singer Will Lexington), Clare Bowen (singer/songwriter Scarlett O’Connor), Sam Palladio (Gunnar Scott), and Lennon Stella (Maddie Conrad) all make appearances in the clip as well.

Nashville was cancelled in May by ABC after four seasons, but was saved by CMT for season 5. New episodes of Nashville will also stream on Hulu after airing on CMT.

Season 5 will kick off with a special two-hour episode on Jan. 5 at 9 p.m.

The new promo, which can be seen below, debuts on CMT’s Artists of the Year special, premiering Thursday night at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
