The Chainsmokers didn’t mince words when expressing their distaste for Lady Gaga’s single “Perfect Illusion.” But the singer struck back with a simple yet effective retort.

In a recent Rolling Stone profile, Alex Pall — one member of the rising DJ duo — proclaimed, “It sucks,” when referring to the song. His partner-in-crime Drew Taggart was softer, calling Gaga ” a great artist.”

Enter Gaga and her newest track, “A-YO.” After premiering the song Tuesday, the pop star sent out a slew of tweets promoting the track. One was directed at The Chainsmokers. “#AYO @TheChainsmokers maybe u guys’ll like this 1 better,” she wrote, followed by a peace sign and trio of cigarette emoji. The lyrics match: “I can’t wait to smoke them all, whole pack like Marlboro / Blow it in your face,” she sings.

They got the message, replying to Gaga, “Haha @ladygaga RESPECT.”

Gaga’s newest album Joanne arrives Friday. She will also be Saturday Night Live‘s musical guest this weekend.
