Carla Gugino and Bruce Greenwood are getting in the game with Netflix.
EW has confirmed that Gugino and Greenwood are set for the feature film adaptation of Stephen King’s suspense novel Gerald’s Game. The film, which will be released worldwide by Netflix, will be directed by Mike Flanagan (Oculus, Quija: Origin of Evil), who co-wrote the script with Jeff Howard.
Gugino and Greenwood star as Jessie and Gerald Burlingame, a married couple heading to their summer home for an adult getaway, but things quickly turn rough and a tragic accident leaves Jessie alone and handcuffed to the bed. Left alone with only a hungry stray dog and the voices in her head, Jessie tries to get free while also reliving traumatic childhood memories.
Also cast in the film, which was already begun production in Mobile, Alabama, are Henry Thomas, Kate Siegal, Chiara Aurelia, and Carel Struycken.
Gerald’s Game joins the long list of King novels to be adapted into films, including the highly anticipated upcoming releases of The Dark Tower and It.
Deadline first reported the news.
