Big Little Lies trailer: Reese Witherspoon, Shailene Woodley in new HBO series
- TV Show
Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern, Nicole Kidman, and Shailene Woodley are doing some very bad things in the teaser trailer for HBO’s upcoming Big Little Lies.
The new clip, which dropped Saturday, offers a first look at footage from the Jean-Marc Vallée-directed, David E. Kelley-created project, based on Liane Moriarty’s 2014 novel of the same name, which revolves around three mothers whose seemingly normal lives are disrupted by unspeakable tragedy.
Set to The Temptations’ “Papa Was a Rolling Stone,” the trailer reveals little in terms of the seven-episode limited series’ plot, though it does tease plenty of sex, a gunshot, gorgeous cinematography, and a healthy amount of (appropriately) dramatic emoting.
“What do you look at in the ocean? What’s out there? Monsters?” a young girl asks Witherspoon as she peers across the Pacific. She responds: “It’s full of life, dreams, mystery… who knows what lies out there beneath the surface?”
Big Little Lies premieres in 2017 on HBO, though a specific date has yet to be announced. Watch the show’s first teaser trailer below.
