PICK OF THE NIGHT
Fresh Off the Boat
ABC, 9 p.m.
The ’90s-set sitcom kicks off far from Orlando — like, Taiwan far. After the soon-to-be-married Uncle Gene (guest star Ken Jeong) absconded with Grandma Huang at the end of last season, Louis (Randall Park) and Jessica (Constance Wu) must take the family to the motherland to get her back.
SERIES PREMIERE
American Housewife
ABC, 8:30 p.m.
It’s easy to mock the suburbs, but few do it really well. ABC has hit the mark before with the delightful but (criminally) canceled sitcoms Suburgatory and Trophy Wife, and it looks like they might have another gem with American Housewife — mainly because it stars Katy Mixon, and Katy Mixon is amazing.

MINISERIES PREMIERE
Channel Zero: Candle Cove
Syfy, 9 p.m.
Dig the American Horror Story series? Well, here’s a brand new horror anthology series for ya! This creepy, six-episode show, based on a popular online horror story, follows a child psychologist (Paul Schneider) who connects recent child disappearances in his hometown to a weird ’80s kids’ program that has started airing again. Just in time for Halloween.
