C.J. and Josh, together again!

EW has learned exclusively that Bradley Whitford — who played Josh Lyman in NBC’s The West Wing — will guest star in an upcoming episode of Mom, the Allison Janney sitcom that returns for a fourth season Oct. 27 on CBS.

Janney played C.J. Cregg opposite Whitford in the White House drama that aired from 1999 to 2006 (and which we miss terribly).

In the Mom episode, slated to air in January, Whitford will play a best friend to Adam (William Fichtner), who is the boyfriend of Bonnie (Janney). A former stuntman who is now a Hollywood director, Whitford’s character is also quite the imbiber — which impresses Bonnie and Christy (Anna Faris). The episode will also star Nicole Sullivan (MadTV), as Adam’s friend Leanne.

Several cast members from The West Wing, minus a busy Janney and Rob Lowe, reunited with producers Aaron Sorkin and Tommy Schlamme at the Austin TV Festival last summer. Sorkin told EW that the political drama continues to resonate with viewers because of platforms like Netflix. “It’s not that the show has had a longer life, it’s that the show has been completely born again,” he said. “College kids [and] high school kids are watching the show like it’s brand new.”
