Grey's Anatomy brings back Tessa Ferrer
Arizona's former flame is returning to make the rounds on the ABC drama
If executive producer Shonda Rhimes follows through with her promise to give Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) a love interest on Grey’s Anatomy this season, we may be about to meet her (or get reacquainted).
ABC announced Monday that Tessa Ferrer is returning to the drama to reprise her guest role as Dr. Leah Murphy. Having last appeared in 2014, Ferrer’s character first slept with Alex (Justin Chambers) before entering into a serious fling with Arizona. Their romance came to heartbreaking halt for Leah, however, when Arizona reconciled with Callie (Sara Ramirez, who left the show last season).
The network won’t say what will bring Leah back to Grey Sloan Hospital, or if she is indeed going to resume her love affair with Arizona. (ABC wouldn’t say when we’ll see her return, either). But in August, Rhimes told EW that cupid will come calling this season now that Callie has moved to New York and is out of Arizona’s life (at least romantically).
“We’re absolutely going to see it,” Rhimes said. “I’m very excited to introduce a love interest for her, and to get to tell a story with her that lets her be who she is, and to see who she is post the relationships that she’s had.”
Grey’s Anatomy airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
