Billy Bush may not have a lot of fans following this weekend’s events, but it would seem that he still has the support of one of his former colleagues: current Access Hollywood Live co-host Kit Hoover.

“The Billy that I know, and that a lot of people would say, has the biggest heart of anybody, and he is a good person,” said Hoover of her former co-worker while talking to co-host Natalie Morales on Monday morning. “He was always in my corner. I was just devastated to watch all this unfold.”

Hoover began to tear up, saying that the leaked tapes — which contain a lewd conversation from 2005 between the then-Access Hollywood host and Donald Trump — represented only “seven minutes” of Bush’s life, and that during the six years they worked alongside each other Bush treated her with kindness and respect.

“One of the first people to call me and congratulate me when I announced that I would be getting this job was Billy,” Morales then added. “He also offered advice and offered to help with my move and transition.”

Bush has since apologized for his comments in the video, while both Nancy O’Dell and Arianne Zucker have issued statements.

Hoover and Morales’ comments came after the TODAY show acknowledged Bush’s absence (and current suspension) this morning.
