12 Monkeys: Your first look at 2163 in season 3 trailer

If you thought Cole’s future was grim, wait until you see 2163.

In the season 2 finale of 12 Monkeys, Cassie (Amanda Schull) was kidnapped by the Army of the 12 Monkeys and taken to the far-off future, where she discovered that the Witness is her and Cole’s unborn child. The first trailer for season 3, released at New York Comic Con on Saturday, gives a stark look at 2163 — but that won’t be the only era they venture to in season 3.

“In Season 3, the stakes have never been more personal for our time travelers,” executive producer Terry Matalas says. “The adventure will take them to their own future as well as further back in time than they’ve ever been before. They’ll face their darkest hour — an all-new threat with deeply emotional consequences for heroes and villains alike.”

12 Monkeys will return in 2017.
