One of the most significant hallmarks of Tuesday’s vice presidential debate between Republican candidate Mike Pence and Democratic candidate Tim Kaine was the pair’s constant bickering and crosstalk. The arguing was so overpowering at one point that moderator Elaine Quijano said, “Gentlemen, the people at home cannot understand either one of you when you talk over each other.”
The interruptions and battles were not lost on the viewers at home, nor Trevor Noah. During Tuesday’s episode of The Daily Show, Noah mocked the behavior of the candidates. “The debate turned from a debate into a big, white-guy argument,” Noah said, adding it was one of the biggest “white-guy arguments in history.”
“In fact, if we look on the White Guy Argument Meter, it registers all the way at step-dad versus real dad,” Noah joked.
Noah also dinged Pence and Kaine for their similarities: “If you were picking these guys up at the airport and they were bags, you’d get these guys mixed up with each other … my ears couldn’t even distinguish between the two of them.”
