The singer-songwriter previewed the 'Joanne' bonus track Tuesday
With just over two weeks to go until the release of Joanne, Lady Gaga fueled fan anticipation for her fifth album of original pop material by previewing one of the LP’s bonus tracks, “Just Another Day,” during Tuesday’s edition of On Air with Ryan Seacrest.
The 12-second snippet sees Gaga returning to her performative roots on the piano, as she croons “Just another way to prove I love you when it’s hard today / I’ll lay back in my chair and find a way.”
“Just Another Day” appears on the deluxe edition of Joanne, which is slated for release on Oct 21. The singer-songwriter told Seacrest the collection is definitely a pop record, though she tried to move away from crafting conventional tunes for the project. Still, she says it’s filled with “sugary sweet hooks” fans have come to expect from her.
“I don’t know if people forget this about me, or if it’s just the way I am, but I’m never aiming to make a pop record that is of the status quo of what’s happening in music,” she said, “My aim is to always be different and to push things further. Not necessarily forward or backwards, but just push them in a new direction and it alway has a positive message behind it.”
The album features collaborators like Florence Welch, Father John Misty, Beck, and Mark Ronson, who recently told EW, “Whatever your preconceived notions are, the minute you meet her and see the piano or the guitar and see how real or legit she is, everyone is like, ‘Oh, f—, I want to give her the best song I’ve ever written.”
Joanne‘s first single, “Perfect Illusion,” debuted at No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 in Sept. Its accompanying music video has been viewed nearly 25 million times since first airing during the second season premiere of Fox’s Scream Queens.
On Wednesday, in support of Joanne, Gaga will embark on her three-date Dive Bar Tour in Nashville. The performance will be streamed live on Facebook, with subsequent shows occurring at secret locations on Oct. 20 and Oct. 27. The 30-year-old will reportedly premiere more new music — including the “Million Reasons” — during the Dive Bar Tour sessions.
