The celeb apologized Monday for misinterpreting the judge last week
Celebrities don’t usually apologize to the judges on Dancing with the Stars, but Amber Rose decided it was time to break from tradition Monday.
After her tango with pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy, the model and actress expressed regret for thinking Julianne Hough had body-shamed her following last week’s Face Off competition. Hough had said she felt “uncomfortable” while watching Rose’s salsa, so the model-actress went on her Play.it Network show last week to say she felt “body-shamed.” Rose argued that the pros “dress very sexy and they do the splits and they grind up on these guys and they look absolutely stunning and get a standing ovation … and me, and my body, my hips, my ass, my breasts made her uncomfortable.”
By Monday, however, she changed her tune.
“I felt you weren’t talking about my dance, “ Rose said Monday. “If I misunderstood, I apologize. I’m a very positive person. I don’t like to argue or bicker or make things weird.””
“As a judge, I’m here to solely judge you and the others only for the dancing,” Hough replied. “I want you to know that.”
After Rose accused Hough of body-shaming her, Hough released this statement to PEOPLE: “My comments were solely reacting to the quality of the dance I was judging. I have been a strong proponent of female empowerment and an anti-bullying advocate for years, and I take that very seriously. Any kind of body shaming is the furthest thing from who I am and what I stand for. Trust me I’m ALL for a sexy booty dance!! We all know that!! And any kind of body-shaming goes against everything I believe in.”
On Monday, Rose and Chmerkovskiy seemed to up the ante by dancing a sexy tango. The dance earned a 24, one of the highest scores of the night.
