Lady Gaga is hitting the road for a three-date Dive Bar Tour, which will see the singer-songwriter performing new material from her upcoming album Joanne.
The pop icon is ditching sold-out arenas for more intimate venues, though exact locations are being kept under wraps. The first secret show kicks off Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET, and will be streamed on Bud Light’s Facebook Live feed. Gaga will premiere a new Joanne cut, “Million Reasons,” as part of the Oct. 5 show. Subsequent performances are scheduled for Oct. 20 and Oct. 27.
“I love this dive bar tour so much, because I get to go perform these songs and really look my fans in the eyes when I’m singing to them and really try to have a more natural human experience,” Gaga said in a statement. “This record was about me trying to understand my father, and his grief. It’s also a record about me trying to understand myself and wondering where I’m going next in life. Because truly, the thing that I’m searching for the most is to feel connected to humanity, to feel connected as a person. So Joanne is like, you know, Lady Gaga if you erase all the fame.”
Gaga’s fifth album of original material, Joanne, is set for release on Oct. 21. The album’s first single, “Perfect Illusion,” debuted a new rock-tinged sound for the star, as its parent album reportedly marks a sonic departure from Gaga’s signature brand of electronic dance-pop.
“If we are talking about the style of music, this record is not country by any stretch of the imagination,” Hillary Lindsey, one of Gaga’s songwriting collaborators on the project, recently told EW. “It has some folk influences at times, maybe some acoustic guitar, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s country. I hope fans hear it for what it is: Lady Gaga speaking from the heart. She can show the world that she doesn’t need all the tricks. She can still grab you and have you in the palm of her hand.”
Earlier this week, the 30-year-old pop icon confirmed in a tweet she will be the Super Bowl LI Halftime Show performer. She will take the stage at the annual sporting event’s 51st edition on Feb. 5, 2017 at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.
