UPDATED: West stopped his performance because of a 'family emergency'
UPDATE: Kanye West stopped his set at the Meadows Festival in New York on Sunday night after his wife Kim Kardashian was held at gunpoint in a Paris hotel room. “Kim Kardashian West was held up at gunpoint inside her Paris hotel room this evening, by two armed masked men dressed as police officers. She is badly shaken but physically unharmed,” Ina Treciokas, a spokesperson for Kardashian, told CNN. West halted his performance for what was called a “family emergency.”
According to PEOPLE, neither North West, 3, nor Saint West, 9 months, were involved in the incident. Kardashian was reportedly robbed of approximately $10 million in jewelry. Head to PEOPLE for more.
EARLIER: Kanye West was forced to end his Sunday night headlining set at the Meadows Festival in New York City 20 minutes early due to what he called a “family emergency.” It is not clear yet what that emergency might entail, as neither West’s camp nor the event have returned EW’s request for comment at this time.
The rapper also came out 30 minutes behind schedule. He didn’t address the delay, and barely spoke to the audience until offering a cordial, “Thanks for rocking with me tonight,” about halfway through the set. Shortly after launching into “Heartless” off 2008’s 808 & Heartbreak, West told the crowd he had to end the performance early.
Shortly after his departure, a representative for the festival took the mic, saying there would be a 10-minute intermission. They soon amended their statement, confirming the set was indeed canceled. “Due to an emergency. Kanye West had to end his performance early,” The Meadows official Twitter account posted later on Sunday. ” Please get home safely.”
