War is coming for New York Comic Con. As 20th Century Fox announced a special first look at War for the Planet of the Apes for the upcoming convention, the first official plot details have arrived.

Andy Serkis brought the ape Caesar to life through motion capture for Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and he returns again for the third chapter of this prequel saga.

According to a press release, “Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel. After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet.”

Serkis will join director Matt Reeves and producer Dylan Clark to premiere “never-before-seen footage” of the film during a sneak peek presentation at Manhattan’s Regal E-Walk Theater on Thursday, Oct. 6 starting at 8:30 p.m.

Previously, Reeves posted a couple first looks from the set to social media.

War for the Planet of the Apes also stars Woody Harrelson (as that ruthless Colonel), Steve Zahn, Terry Notary, and Karin Konoval. The film will hit theaters on July 14, 2017.
