Idina Menzel talks Frozen 2 and gay Elsa
Idina Menzel cannot let any secrets go about Frozen 2.
During an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show Thursday, guest host Miley Cyrus asked what she thinks about the #GiveElsaAGirlfriend campaign that has swept Twitter. “Honestly, honestly I don’t know,” the Tony winner admitted. “I’m a servant of Disney.”
Menzel did like the idea and what it represented: “I’m all for it. I think it’s a wonderful idea. It’s a wonderful conversation that we should all have about whether a Disney princess or queen could be gay.” Later, she admitted, “I can’t promise anybody that’s going to happen.”
While he couldn’t care less about Frozen 2, someone else is using Menzel for her Frozen cred. She caught her son Walker “trying to flirt with a young kindergartener” and using his mom’s playground cred in the school yard. Menzel was volunteering at Walker’s school when she overheard him tell a little girl, “Hey, you want my mommy’s autograph? She’s Elsa in Frozen.” The audience cracked up. “I felt very used,” Menzel joked.
